2021 Classroom Grant Recipient: Carol Critcher of Blowing Rock School

Carol Critcher of Blowing Rock School for the “Book Tasting Cafe: A Taste of Socio-Emotional Books to Promote Well-Being.”  Funds will be used to purchase social and emotional skills themed picture books to develop skills around dealing with life’s big emotions and challenges.  The resources will be made available to all the teachers and serve as a starting point for discussions when big emotions and challenges surface.

The Watauga Education Foundation is a local non-profit comprised of a hard-working volunteer board with passion for supporting educators who foster a love of learning and sponsor community-oriented events that sustain students’ wonder, enthusiasm, and perseverance.  Those interested in supported the WEF mission are encouraged to contact President Erika Hudspeth at Watauga Education Foundation wef@wataugaschools.org.

All faculty, including all certified teachers, principals and assistant principals, guidance counselors, social workers and media specialists, and after-school site directors in grades PreK-12 employed by Watauga County Schools are eligible to apply for projects that will directly benefit students through innovative and creative teaching methods. WEF Recognized with Spirit of Philanthropy Award from the Watauga County Community Foundation

The Watauga Education Foundation was grateful to receive the Spirit of Philanthropy Award from the Watauga County Community Foundation last week at their annual meeting. WEF was presented a check for $700 – which will go right back into Watauga County schools. Thanks so much!
