The first week of summer is almost over, and so is our fiscal year at the Watauga Education Foundation (WEF). We hope you’ve enjoyed seeing photographs of all the amazing student talent from our recent Shooting Stars showcase event.
Both our Flap Jack Flip and Shooting Stars events were unqualified successes. With a renewed energy and some amazing new board members, we’ve had a really fun and successful year.
We just awarded the Kate Swift Reese scholarship to Ms. Elizabeth Ward, and we began the year this past fall by awarding $30,000 in classroom grants to some incredible teachers and their classrooms in the Watauga County School system.
Enjoy the summer, but please don’t forget about the Watauga Education Foundation while we take some relative downtime as well. As we prepare for a new year, we hope once again to be able to offer $30,000 in classroom grants, but we can’t do it without you.
As a nonprofit organization, we depend on sponsorships and donations. Any successes we have are a direct result of your support and partnership. We love creating and sustaining relationships with fellow community members!
Here are just a few ways you can help us help educators and students:
- Follow (and like, and share) us on social media: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter;
- Become a WEF sponsor; we have several levels with a variety of sponsorship benefits: Sponsorship Opportunities;
- Donate any amount that you can, and encourage community membership and giving at home and at work;
- Tell all the teachers, administrators, staff members, and students you see that you appreciate them and believe in them. Giving to WEF is a great way to let them and the community know that you support education.
If you’d like to learn more and/or become a part of who we are and what we do, please drop me a line at wef @wataugaschools.org. Thanks! Take care, and enjoy the summer…
